I was was diagnosed with Nasal Polyps a year ago and my ENT specialist prescribed Flixonase Nasules. The condition has been caused by house dust mite allergy. I recently an ENT specialist and thepolyps have not shrunk. He has now prescibed Avamys. Would you consider this to be a means to an end?

Thanks for your question. Medications can often shrink or eliminate nasal polyps, but surgery is sometimes needed to remove them. Even after successful treatment, nasal polyps often return. The first-line treatment for nasal polyps is a nasal corticosteroid spray. In other cases, a one-week tapered course of oral corticosteroids such as prednisone may be necessary.
