Find Out If You Have Sleep Apnea with a Home Sleep Study

In the past, in order to determine if a person has sleep apnea, he or she would have to spend the night in a sleep lab.  Now there is a revolutionary device that will allow patients to measure their sleep apnea in the comfort of their own home.

If you have symptoms of sleep apnea, such as difficulty breathing at night or snoring, there is a state-of-the-art device that can accurately determine whether you have the condition, and to what degree.

The Apnea Risk Evaluation System (ARES™): Innovative Technology

The Apnea Risk Evaluation System (ARES™) is a new FDA-approved device that not only accurately measures information, but since a patient will use the tool in their regular sleeping environment, it will provide an optimal reading of their normal sleep patterns.

How Does ARES Work?

With a sleep-wearable, wireless physiological recorder worn on the forehead, a patient will collect accurate data while they sleep, which can determine whether he or she has sleep apnea.  Through a variety of tools such as accelerometers and a specially calibrated microphone, the device will monitor signals that can indicate sleep apnea symptoms.

The state-of-the-art device measures:

  • blood oxygen saturation
  • pulse rate
  • airflow
  • snoring levels
  • head movement
  • head position

Not only can the device be comfortably worn in any sleep position, it also will gently notify the patient when the recorder is not worn properly to maximize the measurement.

When the patient wakes, he or she can upload the data to the related software provided by SleepMed which can interpret the information, comparing it with a patient’s clinical history and anthropomorphic data, to determine if the patient has sleep apnea and to what degree.
